Limit the Use of My Sensitive Personal Information

California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) § 1798.121 — A-du, LLC

If you are a California resident, you have the right to direct A-du to limit the use and disclosure of your sensitive personal information (SPI) to uses necessary to perform the services or provide the goods you reasonably requested, or otherwise permitted under § 1798.121(a). This page explains what SPI A-du collects, how to exercise your right, and what happens after you submit a request.

1. What qualifies as “Sensitive Personal Information” on A-du

A-du may collect the following categories of SPI from Members who go through tenant screening, payment setup, or identity verification:

• Government-issued identifier (driver’s license, state ID, passport number)
• Social Security number (collected solely for tenant-screening purposes via our third-party consumer reporting agency)
• Precise geolocation (only if you opt in to location-based listing search)
• Financial account information (bank account / debit card numbers used by Stripe for rent payments)
• Contents of private messages sent through the A-du messaging tool

2. How A-du uses SPI by default

A-du already limits the use of SPI to purposes § 1798.121(a) permits without the need for any action on your part:

• Performing the services you requested (screening, payment processing, identity verification, messaging)
• Ensuring security and integrity, detecting fraud, and responding to legal process
• Quality assurance, short-term transient use, and internal recordkeeping

A-du does not sell SPI and does not share SPI with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising.

3. How to submit a “Limit SPI” request

If you cannot use the mailto link above, send a message to legal@a-du.homes with the subject line Limit the Use of My Sensitive Personal Information Request and the verification information listed above.

4. What happens after you submit

• A-du confirms receipt within 10 business days.
• A-du responds substantively within 45 calendar days; a one-time 45-day extension may apply if the request is complex, in which case you will be notified.
• If A-du cannot verify your identity from the information you provided, A-du will contact you with the additional information required.
• There is no charge to submit a Limit SPI request, and you will not receive differential treatment for exercising this right (§ 1798.125).

5. Authorized agents

You may designate an authorized agent to submit a Limit SPI request on your behalf. The agent must provide written permission signed by you and must complete A-du’s verification process. Include a copy of the signed authorization with your email.

6. Related rights

The Privacy Policy sets out A-du’s full suite of California privacy rights, including the right to know, right to delete, right to correct, right to opt out of sale/sharing, and non-retaliation rights.
